FAQs

What does Fence & Gate Doc. Services do?

We provide independent fence and gate condition documentation only.

How does the condition report work?

You book an appointment and pay the service fee upfront (Residential = $150; Commercial = $250). We visit your property and document the condition. You pay the remainder of the final price after documentation and then we send a report. Final condition reports are delivered after outstanding balances are paid in full. Final pricing is based on actual measured fence footage, gate count, and documentation services documented during the on-site report. Estimated pricing may be adjusted if actual measurements differ from submitted estimates.

What’s included in the condition report?

The report includes detailed photos and notes on fence and gate condition, useful for records or disputes. Each fence style has its own tailored checklist that specifically focuses on defects related to only that type of fence. Some general points of interest in each fence, regardless of style, are leaning posts, plumbness and alignment, and fence height.

Do you offer commercial reports?

Yes, we document both residential and commercial properties with tailored pricing.

Do you repair fences or gates?

No, we only document condition; we do not install or repair fences or gates.

What kinds of fences do you document reports for?

Wood, chain link, vinyl, wrought iron, aluminum, ranch rail, farm wire, pool safety, shadowbox, and barbed wire fences.

How does pricing work?

🏡Residential-
•Service fee = $150 + $0.50/linear ft after 25ft.
•Fences under 25 linear ft = $150 flat rate (+ any DPT)
•Dye Penetrant Testing = $50/gate (Must be prepped prior to arrival)

🏦Commercial/Industrial

IMPORTANT: If Fence & Gate Documentation Services cannot complete the scheduled report, customer payments related to incomplete documentation services will be refunded.

Can I cancel my appointment?

Yes you can cancel, without penalty, up to the 24hr mark. For requested cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time, the following cancellation fees may apply:

* Residential Property Cancellation Fee = $75

* Commercial / Industrial / HOA Property Cancellation Fee = $150

Cancellation fees help compensate for reserved scheduling time, travel preparation, and administrative costs.

How long does a report take?

Smaller condition reports usually take about 30 minutes to 1 hour while larger reports could take up to 2 hours or more. Weather can be a critical factor in time as well so times may vary slightly. Estimated times are only relevant to field work.

When will I receive my report?

Reports are dispatched once final payment is made and usually same business day. If not received within 24hrs, please contact through email for further assistance.

Do you document gates too?

Hinges, latches, sagging, alignment, and gate operation are all documented for reports.

Can condition reports help with contractor disputes?

Independent documentation may help show visible conditions and workmanship concerns.

Do you work with insurance claims?

Reports may help support insurance documentation and property records.

What if my fence looks fine?

Some customers simply want records for storms, property sales, or future monitoring.

Are documentation services destructive?

Documentation services are visual and non-destructive only.

Do you provide engineering certifications?

Reports are documentation only and are not engineering certifications or structural guarantees.

Why hire an independent fence documentation company?

Hiring an independent fence documentation company can help identify visible defects, workmanship concerns, safety issues, or areas of deterioration before they become larger and more expensive problems. Professional documentation with photos, measurements, and condition reporting can also help support property records, contractor discussions, maintenance planning, insurance documentation, and real estate transactions.

What is "Liquid Penetrant Testing" (DPT)?

Dye penetrant testing is when a special colored liquid is put on metal to help find tiny cracks that are hard to see with your eyes. It’s kind of like spilling juice into a crack in the sidewalk so the crack becomes easier to spot.
