Meet The Founder

The founder, Melburn Woods, was born in Waco at Hillcrest Hospital in 1990. He has the knowledge of prior generations as well as modern generations of the fence industry. Melburn graduated from TSTC Waco, with honors, with a Cert I, Cert II, and AAS in Welding Technology. His experience comes from hands on work in the field since the age of 12 and extensive education. Before Melburn was born, his father worked for Brem's Fence in the late 1970's for about 8 years. Melburn's parents moved him to be raised in Cantonment, FL on a small 5 acre cattle farm. Together, Melburn and his father ran their own fence installation business from 2002 - 2015 and covered from Biloxi, MS to Ft. Walton Beach. They ran one single marketing ad when they first started and from there on it was all built from word of mouth advertisement.

During the time of hurricane Katrina, the states of FL, AL, MS, and LA all experienced a massive influx of inexperienced contractors looking to scalp the market for a quick buck and never return for repairs. This didn't only happen on fence installation, but fences were the easiest to target in the construction field. Fast forward to today, 11 years after Katrina made landfall and the fence industry is still vastly unregulated (aside from local city ordinances). The fence trade has never been regulated to strict standards, like houses or other major structural components. Because of this, there has always been doubts behind the work that's done on a job site, whether it was done by an independent contractor or a well established company. That's one of the major reasons why Fence & Gate Documentation Services was made. However, it wouldn't come to fruition until Melburn got a lot older.

In 2016, Melburn would move back to Waco to start over in a different environment and a new perspective of how the standards differ between the 2. Melburn installed fence for a few different companies in the area and also worked for himself. Personal circumstances changed his path towards welding, but he couldn't get away from fence completely.

Once more analysis was done on the entire fence industry, there seemed to be a desire for documentation purposes in several different scenarios: Landlords/property managers keeping property records; Contractors/companies needing post-examination to document their final work so customers can't dispute; Customers needing post-examination to document their final work so contractors/companies can't dispute; Insurance claims; Certain legal issues that require extensive documentation; Etc... Now Melburn is committed to helping the entire fence industry grow and evolve.
